Step 2: Review the minimum computer specifications below.

StarBand currently has three satellite modems available, each with slightly different computer specifications and performance levels.

With the StarBand Model 360 modem, your computer must meet the following specifications:

  • Operating systems: Microsoft® Windows® 98, 98SE, 2000, Me or XP
  • 64 MB RAM; 128 MB RAM for Windows® XP and Windows® 2000
  • Pentium-class processor
  • 120 MB of available hard-drive space for mandatory StarBand software
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Available Ethernet or USB port for a direct connection to the StarBand modem

With the StarBand 481 or StarBand 484 modem, the computer must meet the following specifications:

  • Operating systems supporting TCP/IP protocol (Call Center support limited to Windows 98, 98 SE, Me, 2000 Professional, XP and Macintosh OS 9, OS X)
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Ethernet port
